- The BNB ($717.97) Chain has announced major enhancements in its 2025 roadmap, including sub-second block times, gasless transactions, AI-driven smart wallets, and a goal of processing 100M transactions per day.
- Following the announcement, Binance Coin (BNB) surged 8.1%, surpassing Solana (SOL ($197.84)) in market capitalisation to become the fifth-largest cryptocurrency.
BNB Chain has announced a major upgrade for 2025, aiming to improve transaction speed, enhance user experience, and introduce AI-driven solutions. The update will include sub-second block times, gasless payments, and advanced developer tools to optimise the blockchain’s efficiency.
Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) confirmed the upgrade in a Feb. 11 X post, highlighting key aspects such as faster block times and expanded gasless transactions, which will help the network reach its objective of processing up to 100M transactions per day.
BNB Price Surges, Puts Solana on Fifth Spot
Block latency will be reduced from three seconds to sub-second speeds while maintaining high throughput.
Additionally, the gasless transaction feature, previously enabled through MegaFuel for stablecoins, will be expanded to include all transactions, allowing users to pay fees using stablecoins or other BEP-20 tokens.
This will be supported by EIP-7702-based paymaster solutions rolling out in 2024.
Binance Coin (BNB) surged following the BNB Chain revival, surging 8.10% in a single day, priced at US$697 (AU ($9.91)$1.1K), and effectively outranking Solana (SOL) as the fifth largest coin by market capitalisation.
Artificial Intelligence Coming to BNB Chain
AI functionalities are part of the upgrade, as the network plans to add AI-driven smart wallets for its users, potentially making them more user-friendly. The cherry on top? These AI-driven wallets have improved key management, batch transactions, and full gas sponsorship through paymasters.

These AI solutions come in the form of agents, which can help users manage their portfolios, compare prices for buying, selling, and swapping assets, automate trading strategies, and more.
However, BNB Chain may also integrate AI for decentralised data governance through DataDAOs, secure data monetisation, and advanced encryption methods using trusted execution environments (TEEs) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
Regarding security, if you think malicious Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) incidents were a Solana-only thing in 2024, well, no; they continue to cause pain for traders because it leads to user losses and increased transaction cost, which raises a few eyebrows on the fairness of blockchain systems.
In 2024, nearly 40% of BNB Chain blocks were affected via MEV attacks. This new roadmap proposes BSC validators, a new coordination framework, enhanced block voting mechanisms, and reduced mempool exposure to mitigate these threats.
