Bitcoin will reach $200,000 despite this week’s crash.
Bernstein offered that prediction after Donald Trump’s threatened tariffs against Canada and Mexico triggered the total crypto market to drop about 9% at the start of this week, shaving almost $300 billion off its value.
Yet, the research firm said in a Tuesday note that it is still confident that Bitcoin will bounce back and hit $200,000 over the next 12 months.
“We view the current correction as another opportunity to participate in this cycle,” analysts Gautam Chhugani, Mahika Sapra, and Sanskar Chindalia wrote.
Bernstein previously said that Bitcoin would hit $200,000 at the end of 2025, but the analysts cautioned that the breakout may be delayed by “a few months” if the current risk-off sentiment lingers.
Crypto market watchers said the crash was triggered by several factors, including Trump’s tariffs, the Federal Reserve’s continued dovishness, the implosion of Argentinian President Javier Milei’s memecoin, and the fallout of the $1.4 billion Bybit hack.
Yet, Bernstein said there’s “no reasons to change our bullish view of the current Bitcoin market structure,” citing continued adoption of digital assets by large institutions.
The analysts are not alone in voicing that kind of bullishness.
Geoffrey Kendrick, global head of digital assets research at UK bank Standard Chartered, said on Tuesday that he expected the current market drop into the low $80,000s before it bounces back, creating an opportunity to “buy the dip.”
Bitcoin exchange-traded funds will have to see outflows of $1 billion in a day before buying the bottom looks attractive, Kendrick said.
He echoed Bernstein’s sentiment that Bitcoin will hit $200,000.
Another bullish sign comes from options markets, where investors are betting Bitcoin will surge to $120,000 in March despite crypto markets crashing this week.
Data from basedmoney.io shows that almost four out of every 10 trades that expire March 28 will only pay out if Bitcoin hits above $120,000.
