Last week, the cryptocurrency market was on the agenda with the Solana (SOL ($140.09))-based memecoin LIBRA, which was allegedly a scam.
While the LIBRA debate has been further fueled by the support of Argentine President Javier Milei, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) has taken action regarding LIBRA.
According to local Argentine media Lanacion, the US Department of Justice has launched an investigation into the LIBRA token.
According to the report, the DOJ investigation is investigating the role of other prominent figures in the crypto industry, such as Argentine President Javier Milei, Uniswap CEO Hayden Adams, and KIP Protocol co-founder Julian Peh, in the project and whether LIBRA is a fraudulent activity.
The report said sources said the investigation was still in its early stages and that the investigation was confirmed.
The report also stated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) could also be involved in the LIBRA investigation launched by the DOJ.
The investigation comes after an Argentinian law firm filed a criminal complaint with US authorities over those responsible for LIBRA’s collapse.
The Argentine Senate also requested that the current administration compile and submit a report on the president’s connections to LIBRA.
As is known, LIBRA was advertised on social media by Milei. This support from Milei caused thousands of people to turn to LIBRA, and after its price fell, investors lost millions of dollars.
